Modules

Module - Preparatory Work

The focus of this module is for entry level students to learn the basic preparatory grooming skills to the level required to take part in a external examination. Students will learn how to brush out, prepare and maintain the coat of the dog they have chosen for their external examination. Brushing and fluffing techniques will be practiced on model dogs and other popular breeds.

Each Module:
50 hrs
Each Lesson:
Between 2 - 4 hrs
Notes:
Students requiring extra lessons (over and above the 50 hours offered) will be required to pay the extra hours charge.

Module - Breed Profile & Pattern Angulation

(AVAILABLE FOR CLASS A, B & C)

The focus of this module is for students to understand the proper breed profile and correct angulation for the breed they have chosen for their external examination. Students will practice on model dogs and other popular breeds.

Class B and C will focus on Breed Profiling either a Poodle or a Bichon Frise and proper angulation of the grooming pattern chosen. (for example Lamb Clip)

Class A will focus on Breed Profiling either a Poodle, a Bichon Frise, a Kerry Blue Terrier, a Schnauzer, a West Highland Terrier or a Cocker Spaniel. Students will master the Show Clip Style directly related to the dog breed they have chosen with particular reference to either Stripping, Thinning or Scissoring.

Module - Overall Balance & Symmetry

(AVAILABLE FOR CLASS A, B & C)

The focus of this module is for students to understand how to properly balance and demonstrate an appealing symmetrical grooming style. This will be class specific and directly related to the dog breed they have chosen for their external examination. Students will practice on model dogs and other popular breeds.

Module - Rules & Regulations & Practice Examination

(AVAILABLE FOR CLASS A, B & C)

The focus of this module is for students to understand the rules and regulations pertaining to the class they are entering for the external examination and for students to enhance their scissoring skills and demonstrate their interpretation of the breed profile. This module will include a practice two hour examination. This will be class specific and directly related to the dog breed they have chosen for their external examination. Students will practice on model dogs and other popular breeds.

Enrichment Module

BREED SPECIFIC

This module is offered to groomers who want to enhance their grooming skills and focus on one particular breed.

Pet Owner Module

MAINTENANCE AND GENERAL CARE

This module is offered to pet owners who would like to learn how to maintain their dog.
